Dear Honorable Congressperson Pelosi, While I am very proud of you being appointed the House Minority Whip, I have been disappointed since then by your weak response to Bush's impulsive unprecedented preemptive strike against a sovereign country. This outrageous act has isolated the U.S. in world opinion and already led to thousands of deaths of innocent civilians. Ever since Bush was appointed by the Supreme Court I knew his presidency would be bad but never in my wildest dreams did I envision a presidency this horrific. He has appointed convicted felons to government posts (John Poindexter to the Committee for Information Awareness), given government handouts to companies under SEC investigation and which have ties to him and the vice-president (contract to Halliburton for repair of Iraqi oil fields), three times now tried to drill for oil in the ANWR despite public opposition to such a stupid idea, and basically raped the environment while the looming war with Iraq dominated the news and diverted public attention. Any one of these things alone calls for strong opposition from elected public officials such as yourself. But this war calls for something more. It requires action. Bush's actions amount to nothing less than war crimes. Where are all these weapons of mass destruction that Bush claimed Iraq had and that justified attacking it? There are none. This whole war has been one big government propaganda campaign. Weak innuendoes of a connection between Iraq and the September 11 attacks have been swallowed whole cloth by a cowering and frightened public. But there is no connection. Most of the highjackers were from Saudi Arabia. Are we going to be attacking Saudi Arabia next? Of course not. Bush's war against Iraq is an atrocity. It has no justification. It is nothing more than wholesale murder. For all of the above reasons I am writing to call on you to start immediate proceedings to impeach Bush. Silence equals complicity. We must do something to stop the outrageous actions of that man. Thank you for your attention. Sincerely, Michelle Brodie |
