Mayor Gavin Newsom
City Hall Room 200
San Francisco, CA 94102

Dear Mayor Newsom:

First of all I would like to say that I think you are doing an excellent job as mayor and I am very proud to have you as my mayor. I am particularly pleased that you have chosen to go after litterbugs. I think it is a huge issue in the City and I'm glad you have chosen to tackle it.

I am writing to you though, about an equally huge issue that I hope you are willing to tackle. As you probably know the Sacramento Bee has been running a series highlighting a UC Davis study that has shown that San Francisco and its neighboring counties could get adequate water from three reservoirs on the Tuolumne River other than the Hetch Hetchy Resevoir which currently floods the incomparable Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite National Park. Governor Schwarzenegger announced recently that his administration would conduct a Hetch Hetchy study. This is an amazing development since up to now I have not agreed with him about anything. I urge you as mayor of San Francisco to support the restoration of Yosemite's Hetch Hetchy Valley. There is a way to preserve the water supply and electricity for the San Francisco Bay Area and restore beautiful Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite. It's time to restore this wonderful national treasure to its former beauty. It can be done and your support for it would be another wonderful gift from you to the people of San Francisco. Please, support the restoration of Hetch Hetchy in Yosemite Valley.

Sincerely,

Michelle D. Brodie
