Mount Tamapais, Marin County, CA Go one half mile past the entrance to Muir Woods National Monument and park on a small pull out at the trail head for Redwood Creek. No dogs or bikes are allowed. Beware of many horses, horse droppings, and ticks. The trail is relatively flat and very pleasant as it follows the creek in a reparian habitat with willow thickets, alders, one large redwood near the beginning of the trail, bay trees, and oaks. On a visit on April 7, 2003 there was a pileated woodpecker very close to the trail calling loudly. |
